UMTec Limited was founded in 2006 and is the commercial subsidiary of the University of Macau, specializing in providing a variety of business services including: consulting services, knowledge transfer, technology transfer and support, engineering testing, training courses and more. As a commercial arm of the University of Macau, UMTec Limited is committed to promote and transfer the valuable research findings of the University.
Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute
Situated in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone，Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute (ZUMRI) was established in March 2019, serving as UM’s first demonstration base for industry-academia collaboration in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Since its establishment, ZUMRI has actively introduced high-quality research resources from UM, integrated superior production factors such as land, capital, talents, markets and industries in Hengqin and even the GBA, promoted the commercialization and industrialization of research results, and supported the moderate economic diversification of Macao. ZUMRI has established Microelectronics R&D Center, Smart City R&D Center, Chinese Medicine R&D Center, Translational Medicine R&D Center, Advanced Materials R&D Center, Humanities and Social Sciences Research Center and Executive Training Center.
By actively undertaking government projects and exploring commercial cooperation, ZUMRI jointly promotes the transfer and transformation of excellent scientific research achievements of the UM, helps to moderately diversify the economy of Macao, and makes outstanding contributions to the development of the cooperative zone and the development of the Cooperation Zone, Zhuhai, and Macao.
UMCERT
The University of Macau established the “Centre for Engineering Research and Testing” (hereinafter referred to as the “Centre”) in 2003. It is committed to providing professional services such as engineering testing and quality assurance for the local industry and the Macao SAR Government, transforming the UM’s professional knowledge in academic and technical fields into professional businesses, and making contributions to local infrastructure.
In order to respond to the ever-changing market demands and utilize the resources of the Centre more effectively, the University of Macau established “UMCERT” based on the business of the Centre, which was registered and started operation in 2020. “UMCERT” has inherited the original businesses of the Centre, providing professional services like engineering testing and quality assurance for both public and private construction projects. At the same time, it has further developed its businesses, continued to improve service efficiency and quality, transformed more of the UM’s academic and technical professional knowledge into new businesses, and has become a public capital wholly-owned company that promotes the cooperative development of industry, university and research.
IDQ
The Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau (IDQ) was established in February 1997. It is a scientific and technical, not-for-profit and community-oriented organization based in Macau, with the support of advanced European know-how and expertise. The mission is to contribute to the applied research and development of industrial sciences and technologies, provide technical services and trainings in the fields of advanced engineering applications and of quality systems, establish a state-of-art center of Excellence in Maintenance Engineering to provide high-quality, cost-effective service to industries in Macau and to the surrounding regions as well.
