The University of Macau (UM) and the Institute of Cancer and Basic Medicine under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently inaugurated a joint laboratory for cancer research. The lab will take advantage of the strengths of UM and the institute and will focus on solving key scientific and technical problems in the development of cancer treatment and drugs. It will also carry out innovative basic and clinical research in the field. In addition, the lab aims to nurture a group of scientists and researchers and develop into an internationally renowned centre for cancer research. So far, UM and the institute have jointly nurtured five PhD students.
