The University of Macau (UM) today (18 January) held a talk titled ‘Grit: The Power of Persisting and Strategies for Success’, as the 16th UM Scholar Research Forum. Zhou Ming Ming, professor in the Faculty of Education, was the speaker. The talk was well attended, with many secondary students and teachers watching it online as well. During the talk, Prof Zhou discussed how Chinese students’ grit comes into being and the importance of grit from the perspective of Eastern and Western cultures. She also shared the characteristics of grit and ways of cultivating grit, and guided the audience on how to cultivate grit in schools and at home, so as to maintain passion and unlock their potential for a happy and successful life.

澳門大學今(18)日舉行“澳大學人研究講壇”第16講,由澳大教育學院教授周明明以“堅毅力:堅持的力量和成功的策略”為題發表演說。講座現場反響熱烈,並吸引一眾中學師生於線上參與。
講座上,周明明從東西方文化的視角探討中國學生堅毅力品格的形成及堅毅力的重要作用。她還分享了堅毅力的特質與其科學培養方法,指導與會者如何在學校和家庭中培養堅毅力,幫助其保持生活熱情,發揮潛力,創造快樂成功的人生。
周明明於加拿大西門菲莎大學獲得教育心理博士,並先後任職於加拿大、新加坡和香港的大學,現任澳門大學教育學院教授及副院長。周明明在教育心理學領域潛心研究不同年級學生的動機、元認知、積極心理學等重要概念十多年,共著國際論文超過80篇。
澳大近年在研究創新方面取得顯著成效,澳大研究服務及知識轉移辦公室因而組織開展“澳大學人研究講壇”,邀請傑出的澳大學人以通俗易懂的方式介紹其前沿研究成果,培育通過學術研究創造知識的良好氛圍,引導大眾和青年學生了解研究創新的社會意義和價值,以及與日常生活密切關聯的應用性,提升科學素養。
